Abstract
4-Phenyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-1,5-benzodiazepin-2-one reacts with the Vilsmeier reagent to give a 3-dimethylaminomethylidene derivative, the hydrolysis of which leads to 3-formyl-4-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-1,5-benzodiazepinone.
