Treatment of Eales' disease with photocoagulation

Summary

224 eyes with Eales' disease were subjected to photocoagulation. In 205 (=91%) the disease could be brought to a morphological standstill over a mean observation time of 5 years after completion of treatment. Visual acuity remained unchanged or improved in 185 eyes (=87%). Postcoagulative macular puckering occured in 6 eyes (=3%).

Zusammenfassung

224 Augen mit Ealesscher Erkrankung wurden einer Lichtkoagulationsbehandlung unterzogen. Bei 205 Augen (= 91%) konnte die Erkrankung über eine durchschnittliche Beobachtungszeit von 5 Jahren nach Abschluß der Behandlung morphologisch zum Stillstand gebracht werden. Die Sehschärfe blieb unverändert oder besserte sich in 185 Augen (=87%). Eine postkoagulative Maculopathie trat bei 6 Augen (=3%) auf.
