Summary
The determination of phosphorus in plain carbon steel according to Lueck and Bolz has been modified for application to all kinds of steel. After dissolution of the sample silicium, chromium, and arsenic are removed by distillation, phosphorus is extracted as molybdate complex and determined photometrically as molybdenum blue. Interferences and reproducibility are investigated thoroughly.
