Summary

Chelidamic acid forms with iron a complex at pH 5.8 to 8.5 having the maximum absorption at 460 nm. The metal to reagent ratio is 1∶3 and the instability constant is about 8.21 · 10−15. The complex obeys Beer's law from 0.4 to 16 ppm of iron and the optimum concentration range is 1 to 8 ppm, with a relative analysis error of 2.3% per 1% absolute photometric error.
