Summary
Separations of copper and cadmium up to ratios of Cu∶Cd=1∶100 and 100∶1 are possible by precipitating copper with hydrogen sulphide from 3.5 N hydrochloric acid solutions without any remarkable co-precipitation of cadmium sulphide. The use of potassium cyanide for the separation of copper and cadmium in qualitative analysis appears to be unnecessary, all the more so as it causes disturbances.
