Summary
An analysis of external parameters during the acquisition of the chromium measuring signal in biological material by ETA-AAS is presented. Some recommendations are given how to increase the reliability of the chromium values in biological material: By carbide formation in untreated graphite tubes the measuring signal is progressively decreased. Therefore, pyrolytically coated graphite tubes should be used. The reduction of the inert gas stream during electrothermical treatment of the biological sample might cause a too high, unspecific signal. This could also lead to false, increased chromium values.
