Summary
Improvements in the routine of sample crushing, the procedure of decomposition of ground material and dilution as well as of element determination and evaluation for accurate analytical data are described. The significance of often neglected, but requisite manipulations in spectroscopic analysis is emphasized for laboratory practice. Of particular importance are errors caused by sample contamination during milling, by loss of sample during decomposition procedures, by storing of stock and sample solutions, and last not least by errors during determination of element concentrations with physical apparatus, i.e., AAS. The well known physical and chemical interferences can be controlled by varying parameters, imposed through measuring techniques and tuning of instruments.
