Summary
Using a graphite boat makes handling of solid samples much easier because it reduces faulty weighting and the danger of contamination. Introducing the samples into the furnace and taking it out again is very easy when a special tool is applied. The boat acts as a L'vov-platform and thus reduces chemical interferences and matrix effects dramatically. Temperature over time is calculated for boat and solid samples and the results are compared with the actual appearance times of different elements. The thermal delay for organic solids is less than for liquids because the thermal ballast of the boat mass acts in different manners. When the samples in the boat are covered by a graphite plate there are equal conditions for solids and liquids and the effect of the L'vov-platform is increased. The possibilities for calibration are demonstrated and it is shown that solid samples can be analyzed quantitatively.
