XXV. Bromination of the benzene ring of alkylindoles

Abstract

Indoles that have alkyl groups in the pyrrole ring are brominated in the 5 position in sulfuric acid. The introduction of an alkyl group into the 7 position may change the orientation and result in the formation of the 6-bromo isomer.
