Abstract
Alkylation of 3,5-dinitro-1,2,4-triazole with α-epoxides in aprotic media gave a number of 1-(2-hydroxyalkyl)-3,5-dinitro-1,2,4-triazoles, which readily undergo intramolecular cyclization with elimination of HNO2 to give 5,6-dihydrooxazolo[3,2-b]-1,2,4-triazole derivatives.
