Summary
The application of ion-chromatography to the determination of vertical and horizontal distributions and temporal variations of the anion concentration in tropospheric aerosols is presented. Teflon filters are used for sampling. The quantitative anion determination in the extract solutions of the filters is done by ion-chromatography. The overall limits of detection are 64 ng/m3 chloride, 54 ng/m3 nitrate and 137 ng/m3sulfate (sample volume: 1.4 m3). A detection limit of 5 ng/m3 (sample volume: 61) is obtained for the simultaneous determination of gaseous hydrogen chloride in the atmosphere.
