Summary
Ion Chromatography is described as an alternative to traditional methods for quantitative determination of inorganic anions. Interest is focussed now to the development of the ion-chromatographic determination of anions related to weak acids.
Chromatographic behaviour of carbonate species in water is studied applying “single-column ion chromatography”. The detection of the carbonate species has been carried out using a conductivity detector with electronic suppression as well as an indirect UV-detector. Two different anion-exchange columns have been proved, successfully.
