Mass spectrometric analysis of the carbon content in the plasma of a horizontal electric arc burning in a graphite tube

Summary

The carbon content in the plasma of a horizontal electric arc in a graphite tube, burning in air, in the presence of an inhomogeneous magnetic field has been determined. The modifications with one and two rotating arc plasmas were investigated. The sample was extracted from the central part of the graphite tube and analysed by means of quadrupole mass spectrometer.

Zusammenfassung

Der Kohlenstoffgehalt im Plasma einer horizontalen Bogenentladung, die in einem Graphitrohr im inhomogenen Magnetfeld stattfindet, wurde gemessen. Modifikationen mit einem und zwei rotierenden Plasmen wurden untersucht. Die Probe wurde von der Zentralzone des Graphitrohres entnommen und mit Hilfe eines Quadrupolen-Massenspektrometers analysiert.
