Use of a column for the extraction, drying and purification of retinol and α-tocopherol for the determination in milk and dairy products with HPLC

Summary

An already described HPLC method for the determination of retinol and α-tocopherol has been improved by development of the simple column serving simultaneously for the extraction, drying and purification of these compounds. This column contains alumina, extrelut and sodium sulphate. After saponification of the sample the solution is neutralized and applied to the column. Hexane is employed for extracting the vitamins. Preparation of the column and of a suitable rack are described in detail.
