Summary
β-d-Glucopyranosides of five primary mono- and sesquiterpene alcohols (citronellol, nerol, geraniol, cismyrtanol, farnesol) are prepared according to a modified Koenigs-Knorr method. It is the first time that the glucosides of l-cis-myrtanol and farnesol are reported as well as the physico-chemical data, specially the IR-, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and mass spectra. Adaption of anhydrous conditions has increased the yield to over 80%. The natural occurrence of such glycosides in plants is reviewed.
