Summary

Preliminary enrichment is indispensable for inorganic trace analysis, to lower the detection limits, improve the precision and accuracy, and widen the scope of instrumental determination techniques. This short review deals with the general aspects, which include control of contamination and losses, micro- and large scale enrichment, multielement enrichment, enrichment for chemical speciation, and simplification and automation of the techniques.
