Summary

In 108 patients of an average age of 70 years the function of the first hearing aid has been controlled according to DIN-standard 45600 when a new hearing ais was adjusted. After an average time of 7 years rather 25% of the hearing aids came up to the DIN-standard. The others had to be repared or a reparation was impossible. The profit in discrimination with the new hearing aids was about 50%. It has been tried to find out the causes of limited durability of hearing aids by overlooking all facts coming into question.
