Effect of neomycinsulfate of efferent compound action potentials of the n. cochlearis of the guinea pig

Summary

In an earlier study there were registered by means of the macro-electrode-technique at the deafferentated n. cochlearis of the guinea-pig four sequential efferent compound action potentials, when stimulating the contralatera ear with clicks. We received the characteristics of excitation for all four efferens compound action potentials. The ototoxical effect of neomycinsulfate, which seemt to damage first of all the nucl. cochlearis as shown by electrophysiological and morphological studies, shows a diminution of the three early efferent action potentials. With these new observations, we try to explain former results from neomycinsulfate-treated guinea-pigs.

Zusammenfassung

In einer früheren Arbeit wurden am deafferentierten N. cochlearis des Meerschweinchens bei kontralateraler Beschallung vier efferente Summenaktionspotentiale mit Makroelektrodentechnik abgeleitet und deren Kennlinien ermittelt. Die ototoxische Wirkung von Neomycinsulfat, das anhand früherer histologischer und elektrophysiologischer Untersuchungen primär am Nucl. cochlearis anzugreifen scheint, verursacht Amplitudenminderungen der drei frühen efferenten Summenaktionspotentiale. Es wird versucht, früher an neomycinsulfatbehandelten Meerschweinchen erhaltene Ergebnisse durch diese neuen Beobachtungen zu erklären.
