Summary
Salicylhydroxamic acid has been used as an analytical reagent for the gravimetric estimation of cadmium and uranium. Vanadium gives a bluish-violet soluble complex which can be extracted with solvents like ethyl acetate; from this, vanadium can be estimated by evaporation and ignition to V2O5: It permits the separation of small quantities of vanadium from many other elements with the exception of iron, uranium and titanium.
