Summary
-
1.
We have found that oxalic acid interferes in the cerimetric estimation of indigo sulphonate. The induction factor increases with increase in the concentration of oxalic acid keeping the concentration of indigo sulphonate constant.
-
2.
The induction factor decreases with increase in the concentration of indigo sulphonate when the concentration of oxalic acid is kept constant.
-
3.
Syrupy phosphoric acid is very effective in suppressing the induced oxidation of oxalic acid in the titration of indigo sulphonate with ceric sulphate.
-
4.
It is observed that a high sulphuric acid concentration suppresses the induced oxidation of oxalic acid.
