Rapid spectrographic determination of calcium fluoride in slags

Abstract

The earlier [6] described method for determining calcium fluoride in slags by intermittent a.c. arcing of briquetted samples has been subjected to a systematic study aimed at establishing the optimal conditions. Using Box-Wilson's method, the influence of currenintensity and of calcium, silicon, aluminium and potassium content on the intensity of the molecular band at 529.1 nm has been examined. It is shown that the matrix effect may be eliminated by adding calcium oxide in the ratio 3 ∶ 1 to the sample and using a current of at least 13 A.

Zusammenfassung

Um die optimalen Arbeitsbedingungen zu ermitteln, wurde ein früher beschriebenes [6] Verfahren zur Bestimmung von Calciumfluorid in Schlacken bei Verwendung von Wechselstromabreißbogen und brikettierten Proben näher geprüft. Nach der Box-Wilsonschen Methode wurde der Einfluß der Stromstärke und von Calcium, Silicium, Aluminium und Natrium auf die Intensität der Molekülbande bei 529,1 nm untersucht. Dabei wurde festgestellt, daß der Matrixeffekt durch die Zugabe von Calciumoxid zur Probe im Verhältnis 3∶1 und bei Verwendung einer Stromstärke von 13 A zu vermeiden ist.
