Studies in the excretion of 5-hydroxy-indole acetic acid in infants and children suffering from asthmatic bronchitis

Abstract

The authors investigated the excretion of 5-HIAA in the urine of 20 patients suffering from asthmatic bronchitis; 14 infants and children served as controls. No changes were observed which might indicate abnormalities of the serotonin metabolism in the pathogenesis of the disease.

Zusammenfassung

Die Verfasser haben die 5-HIES-Ausscheidung im Urin von 20 an asthmoider Bronchitis leidenden und 14 Kontroll-Säuglingen und Kindern untersucht; es waren keine Veränderungen nachweisbar, die bei der Pathogenese der Krankheit für eine Störung des Serotonin-Metabolismus sprächen.
