A case of congenital subtotal myocardium reduction in the region of both heart auricles (Uhl's disease relating to the heart auricle)

Summary

An until now undescribed finding of a subtotal reduction of the myocardium in the region of both atria is reported.

The finding is interpreted as a congenital disturbance of texture during the differentiation of the myocardium of the atria.

The excessive dilatation of the atria is seen as a consequence of a longer-lasting, enormous hemodynamic stress.

Zusammenfassung

Es wird über eine bislang nicht beschriebene Beobachtung einer subtotalen Myokardreduktion im Bereich beider Herzvorhöfe berichtet.

Der Befund wird als konnatale Texturstörung im Rahmen der Ausdifferenzierung des Vorhofmyokard interpretiert.

Die exzessive Dilatation der Vorhöfe wird als Folge einer länger andauernden, übermäßigen hämodynamischen Belastung gedeutet.
