Abstract
Both mean value and standard deviation of the statistical distribution of the spectrographic error are not sufficient for a suitable conclusion concerning the actual proportion of the whole population lying above a given tolerance limit; the shape of the distribution must also be taken into account. This paper shows how this consideration may modify laboratory practice concerning the procedure of acceptation-reject of a spectrographically controlled high purity material.

Es wird eine allgemeine Methode berichtet, um die „echte“, den Beobachtungen entsprechende Fehlerverteilung zu bestimmen. Ein Beispiel zeigt, welche wirtschaftliche Bedeutung diese Betrachtungen haben können.
