Summary

A procedure for correcting interferences in emission spectroscopy is suggested. It is based on the use of “error curves”, which are a measure of the extent of the enhancing (or suppressing) effect of the interfering element upon the sought-for one. The flame-photometric determination of potassium in the presence of large amounts of sodium is described as an example.
