Summary
Automated methods for solution photometric micro-determinations of SiO2 (1), TiO2, Fe2O 03 , P2O5 (2), and F (3) in silicate-rocks and -minerals are described. The following sample amounts and decomposition techniques are used: (1) 5 mg/Na2O2, (2) 100 mg/HF-HClO4, (3) 10 mg/Na2CO3 + ZnO. The precision of the automatic preparation and measurement of coloured sample solutions results in relative uncertainties of: SiO2 0.4–0.2% (30–80), TiO2 2–0.1 % (0.3–5.5), FeO 03 2–0.1% (3–30 or 0.3–3) P2O5 2–0.1% (0.03–0.6), F 5–1% (0.05 to 0.6) (in brackets:range of values in wt.-%). The accuracy, tested by analysis of international geochemical reference samples is high. In two days, the following sample numbers can be processed: SiO2 10 (fourfold determination, decomposition included), TiO2 160, Fe2O 03 160, P2O5 100, or F 24 (decomposition included).
