Summary
57 specimens of human cancellous bone bonded to Acrylic were subjected to shear forces, acting perpendicularly to the long axis of the specimens in the zone of bonding. The average ultimate shear strength of the zone of bonding was found to be 42.3 kp cm−2. The shear force at failure was found to be dependant on the relative proportions of bone and Acrylic in the cross-sectional aerea of the zone of bonding.
