Informationswert der Hüftarthrographie bei Verdacht auf Prothesenlockerung

Summary

In questionable cases of loosening of the prosthesis or low-grade infection after total hip replacement arthrography may be useful in the investigation of these complications. It is able to prove with high accuracy if the prosthesis is loose and if there is a low-grade infection. In such cases bacteriological identification by culture makes possible a highly specificated therapy with antibiotics. As a loosening of the prosthesis often may be recognized only by means of exact clinical and radiological examination arthrography should be used only in doubtful cases.

Zusammenfassung

Bei Verdacht auf gelockerte und infizierte Totalendoprothesen des Hüftgelenkes erweitert die Arthrographie die diagnostischen Möglichkeiten. Sie kann eine Prothesenlockerung mit großer Genauigkeit nachweisen und beim Vorliegen einer schleichenden Infektion die Bestimmung der Erreger und eine gezielte antibiotische Therapie ermöglichen. Da eine Prothesenlockerung oft schon durch eine genaue klinische und radiologische Untersuchung erkannt werden kann, sollte die Arthrographie nur bei unklaren Befunden Anwendung finden.
