Summary

Lens lipids of cholesterol-fed and control rabbits had been investigated by means of hystochemistry, quantitative analyses and thin layer chromatography. Cholesterol-fed rabbits lenses showed a moderately elevated cholesterol and phospholipid content.

Histochemical and thin layer chromatographic investigations showed an elevated free fatty acid content of cholesterol-fed rabbit lenses, especially marked in a case of cholesterol-fed diabetic rabbit.
