Summary
This paper reports possible causes of the disease called “pronatio dolorosa”. Radial heads of adults, children, and unborn children have been analyzed by means of measuring their dimensions and by studies of anatomical specimen. A marked valgus position of the elbow joint in children combined with the laxity of the ligamentous apparatus and the interosseous membrane is considered to the cause of the “pronatio dolorosa”. The tendency of the radial head to subluxate is caused mainly by his characteristical chape but the data found are identical for children and adults.
