Summary
By agar-gel-diffusion and immunelectrophorese no antibodies against donor cornea could be found in a serie of keratoplastic patients. Repeating the experiments of Tsutsui and Watanabe 26 keratoplastic patients were investigated by the tube-precipitation test. In 4 cases precipitates allready were found before the transplantation. A specific reaction against the donor cornea therefore was impossible. This became more sure in additional experiments: on one hand sera of 20 healthy probands were tested against an extract of 10 healthy, clear cornea and 10 cloudy cornea (Exp. 1 and 4a). In further experiments sera from 20 patients who had a cornea-disease were tested in the same manner. (Exp. 3 and 4a). The healthy probands only in one case out of 20 showed a positive precipitation, while in the serie of patients with cornea diseases reaction was positive in 7 out of 20 cases. It was attempted to give an explanation for these findings.
