Conclusion
Until recently, the effectivity of BP in the treatment of acne vulgaris was considered to be primarily a function of its bacteriostatic action. However, in vitro investigation using pure colonies of P.a. showed that the areas of inhibition produced by a 5% and 10% commercial BP preparation and the isolated vehicle were of about equal size.
