Summary
A mixture of 18 amino-acids was investigated. Results showed that the isolated lens capsule is completely permeable for these molecules. It seems possible that by the negative potential of the capsule the permeation for basic amino-acids is encouraged, since their ratio in the amount of permeated amino-acids is increased.
Among a mixture of water-soluble lens proteins only the fraction of the γ-crystallin is able to penetrate the capsule, while for α- and β-crystallin the capsule proves impermeable.
