Summary
The present investigation deals with the characterization of the degree of maturation in the rabbits' retina. The seasonal dependence was investigated by means of the phospholipids.
The following results were obtained:
-
a)
The classification in saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids in the phospholipids, the lecithin and the ethanolamine phosphoglyceride allows only in the first 20 days of life a conclusion of the degree of maturation.
A dependence upon the season was found in the polyunsaturated fatty acids of the ethanolamine phosphoglyceride of the animals born in winter.
-
b)
The ethanolamine phosphoglyceride has the highest content in polyunsaturated fatty acids above all in the first month of life.
-
c)
The evaluation of C22:5 and C22:6 in the lecithin and the ethanolamine phosphoglyceride is a useful method for the determination of the degree of maturation.
-
d)
The quotient C22:6/C22:5 in the lecithin and the ethanolamine phosphoglyceride was shown to be a sure parameter for the discrimination of animals born in summer or in winter.
-
a)
