Leiomyoma of the ciliary body

Summary

Clinical, histological, and electron-microscopic study of a leiomyoma of the ciliary body, which was removed by cyclectomy from the right eye of a 55-year-old female patient. This is the second case in the literature in which an excision has been performed and the diagnosis been confirmed by electron microscopy. The differential diagnosis between amelanotic malignant melanoma, schwannoma, and neurofibroma is discussed, and the electronmicroscopic characteristics of a leiomyoma are demonstrated.

Klinische, histologische und elektronenmikroskopische Untersuchung eines Leiomyoms des Ciliarkörpers, das bei einer 55jährigen Patientin durch eine Cyklektomie entfernt wurde. Es handelt sich hier um den 2. Fall der Literatur, bei dem eine Excision eines Leiomyoms des Ciliarkörpers und eine elektronenmikroskopische Untersuchung durchgeführt wurde. Es wird die Differentialdiagnose gegenüber einem amelanotischen malignen Melanom, Schwannom und Neurofibrom besprochen und der elektronenmikroskopische Befund dargestellt.
