Über das Auftreten von Desmethylimipramin im Gehirn der Ratte nach Gabe von Imipramin in Abhängigkeit von der Injektionsart

On the appearance of desmethylimipramine in rat brain after administration of imipramine. Dependence on injection technique

Summary

Rats were given i.p. injections of imipramine by two different techniques. In each animal the site of injection was localized by a new color tracing method. Unintentionally, one of the techniques resulted in an intramuscular application instead of an i.p. injection, in this case, no desmethylimipramine was detectable in the brain. The other technique gave a true i.p. injection which resulted in the appearance of desmethylimipramine in the brain. These findings probably explain the discrepancies of reported data on the appearance of desmethylimipramine in the brain after imipramine administration.
