Bäcklund transformations for the generalized sine-gordon equation in 2+1 and 3+1 dimensions

Abstract

We construct Bäcklund transformations for the generalized sine-Gordon equations in 2+1 and 3+1 dimensions. The connection of these equations with the nonlinear σ model is considered.
