Abstract
Phloem exudates from grafts between Queensland Blue pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima Duch.) and Candy Red Hawkesbury watermelon (Citrullus vulgaris Schrad.) were analysed by iso-electric focusing to detect iso-enzymes of peroxidase. These enzymes did not move in intact phloem but, when stems were cut, they surged rapidly through graft unions.
