Abstract
A model was developed for use in simulating effects of short-term wind-mixing of the water column on estuarine phytoplankton dynamics. Simulation results, using parameter values estimated from field data, exhibited maxima observed in phytoplankton standing crop over a summer in Auke Bay, Alaska. Short-term wind-mixing of the water column can be important in determining the time of occurrence of phytoplankton community productivity pulses in deep estuaries.
