Summary

  1. 1.

Acid mucopolysaccharides, containing sulphonic acid groups are present in the cavity of the saccus vasculosus and also in the globules, “hairs”, and basal corpuscles of the coronet cells.

  2. 2.

Proteins, probably belonging to the structural frame of the cell body, can be determined.

  3. 3.

The acid mucopolysaccharide inside the cavity of the organ does not contain proteins and lipids in demonstrable quantity.

  4. 4.

The presence of cystine molecules within some coronet cells seems highly probable.

  5. 5.

The localisation and the mode of synthesis of the acid mucopolysaccharide inside the coronet cells is discussed.
