Elektrische geschmacksschwellen der zunge und des weichen gaumens

II. Einfluß von lebensalter, geschlecht und rauchgewohnheiten

Summary

In 125 normal individuals the influence of sex, aging, and smoking on the electric gustatory threshold has been submitted to a statistical analysis. With increasing age but especially beyond the 60th there was found a remarkably rise of the threshold in all the tested areas (anterior third of the tongue, foliate and circumvallate papillae and soft palate). Regarding sex there were no differences in thresholds at the papillae circumvallatae and foliatae. On the other hand in women mean taste thresholds of the anterior tongue were 1,7 EGU and of the soft palate 3,5 EGU better than in men. The habit to smoke did not alter the electric gustatory threshold in a statistically significant manner.

Zusammenfassung

Bei 125 gesunden Personen wurde der Einfluß des Lebensalters, des Geschlechtes sowie des Zigarettenrauchens auf die elektrischen Geschmacksschwellen statistisch analysiert. Es zeigte sich, daß für alle vier geprüften Areale (vorderes Zungendrittel, Papillae foliatae und circumvallatae und weicher Gaumen) sich die Geschmacksschwellen mit zunehmendem Lebensalter, besonders aber jenseits des 60. Lebensjahres, erheblich verschlechterten. Auf der Suche nach geschlechtsspezifischen Unterschieden fand sich, daß Frauen an der vorderen Zunge und am weichen Gaumen ein etwas besseres Geschmacksvermögen aufwiesen. Die Mittelwertte lagen für das vordere Zungendrittel um 1,7 und am Velum palatini um 3,5 EGU über denen der Männer. An den Papillae foliatae und circumvallatae ließen sich zwischen männlichen und weiblichen Probanden keine Unterschiede nachweisen. Der chronische Nicotingebrauch verursachte keine signifikante Verschlechterung der elektrischen Geschmacksschwellen.
