Elektrische geschmacksschwellen der zunge und des weichen gaumens

Electric gustatory thresholds of the anterior third of the tongue, the vallate papillae and for the first time of the foliate papillae and the soft palate were determinated in 125 healthy subjects. The results were submitted to a statistical analysis. Being able to measure thresholds in all persons at the anterior part of the tongue and the soft palate, gaging made it impossible to stimulate electrically the foliate papillae in 2% and the vallate papillae in 49%. The arithmetic mean for the anterior tongue was 5,1, for the foliate papillae 5,5, the vallate papillae 5,8, and for the soft palate 7,6 EGU. The standard deviation for the different areas varied between 6 and 8,4. Less than 10 EGU the electrical thresholds were found in 79% at the anterior third of the tongue and the foliate and vallate papillae but only in 69% at the soft palate. 14% revealed a bilateral ageusia of the velum palatinum. These individuals were characterized by advanced age and generally elevated gustatory thresholds in the other regions. In all 4 investigated gustatory fields the thresholds showed a highly significant correlation but the chi square method revealed significant deviations for most of their distributions. In 88–95% depending on the tested area threshold differences between the right and left side did not exceed 2 EGU. Tests for contingency and correlation confirmed how close they agree. Differences between the sides of more than 5 EGU existed in 5% only. Therefore if the difference between the right and left threshold is more than 5 EGU this is abnormal and a disease should be considered; as soon as it exceeds 10 EGU a pathologic process is proved.

An 125 normalen Personen warden die elektrischen Geschmacksschwellen für das vordere Zungendrittel und die Papillae circumvallatae sowie erstmals für die Papillae foliatae und den weichen Gaumen bestimmt und einer statistischen Analyse unterworfen. Während Messungen an der Zunge und am weichen Gaumen immer möglich waren, gelangen sie wegen starken Würgens in 2% an den Papillae foliatae und in 49% an den Papillae circumvallatae nicht. Die Mittelwerte betrugen für die vordere Zunge 5,1, die Papillae foliatae 5,5, die Papillae circumvallatae 5,8 und den weichen Gaumen 7,6 EGU. Die Standardabweichung bewegte sich für die verschiedenen Meßpunkte zwischen 6 und 8,4. In 79% lagen die Schwellenwerte für die vordere Zunge, die Papillae foliatae und circumvallatae unter 10 EGU, während dies nur für 69% beim weichen Gaumen zutraf. In 14% bestand am weichen Gaumen eine stets doppelseitige Ageusie. Es handelte sich dabei um Personen, die durch ein deutlich höheres Lebensalter und höhere Geschmacksschwellen in den übrigen gustatorischen Arealen charakterisiert waren. Die Schwellenwerte der vier geprüften Gebiete korrelierten hochsignifikant miteinander, ihre Verteilungen wiesen aber mit der Chi-Quadrat-Methode überwiegend bedeutsame Abweichungen auf. Seitendifferenzen im elektrischen Geschmacksvermögen bis zu 2 EGU traten je nach gemessenem Bezirk in 88–95% auf. Korrelationsrechnung und Kontingenzprüfung bestätigten dieses hochgradige Übereinstimmen. Seitenunterschiede von mehr als 5 EGU warden nur in maximal 5% der Fälle beobachtet. Daraus wird geschlossen, daß bei Seitendifferenzen über 5 EGU an einen pathologischen Prozeß zu denken ist; überschreitet der Unterschied 10 EGU, so bestehen mit großer Sicherheit krankhafte Verhältnisse.
