Abstract
The Federal Republic of Germany is strongly dependent on intensive R + D activities in order to maintain the achieved economic and social level. Industry contributes substantially to these activities, mainly by developmental projects. Commercial enterprises must also cope with these tasks in the future. Therefore, appropriate basic conditions have to be set up and must be improved continuously.
