Zusammenfassung
Die Spinndrüse von Bombyx mori L. wurde licht- und elektronenmikroskopisch untersucht, wobei vor allem die Beteiligung der verschiedenen Feinstrukturen des proximalen Drüsenbereiches am Sekretionsgeschehen interessierte.

Die Befunde haben ergeben, daß die Bildung des Sekretes, sein Transport sowie die Abgabe ins Lumen nicht einem strengen Zyklus unterliegt, sondern kontinuierlich geschieht, d.h. in einer Zelle finden sich nebeneinander sämtliche Funktionsstadien.

Die Zellmembranen weisen starke Faltenbildungen auf. Gegen die Leibeshöhle hin ist die Drüse von einer 1–3,5 μ dicken Basalmembran gleichmäßig umgeben.

Die Zellen des proximalen Abschnittes enthalten ein dichtes Ergastoplasma, in dem membranarme Zonen ausgespart bleiben. In diesen Arealen finden sich hauptsächlich Mitochondrien, filamentöse Elemente, freie Ribosomen und Golgi-Apparate.

Die gelappten Kerne weisen große, randständige Nukleolen auf, die wahrscheinlich granuläres Material durch Poren der Kernmembranen ins Cytoplasma abgeben.

Das wegen seiner chemischen Reaktionsträgheit völlig unkontrastierte Fibroin erscheint zuerst in den Golgi-Vakuolen; der Golgi-Apparat steht also in enger Beziehung zur Sekretbildung. Die Prosekretvakuolen werden stets zu mehreren durch das Cytoplasma zum Apex der Zelle transportiert und nehmen auf diesem Wege an Größe zu. Die Extrusion des Sekrets erfolgt nach Verschmelzen der Vakuolenmembran mit dem Plasmalemm.

An der apikalen Zellmembran findet während der Sekretion eine Abschnürung von Pinocytosebläschen ins Cytoplasma statt, die als Ausdruck einer resorptiven Funktion gedeutet werden.
