Summary
Wood toughness, the abundance of cell wall deformations in fibre cell walls adjacent to the marginal ray cell and wood density have been found to be interrelated in Eucalyptus pilularis. The relationships were closer in individual trees rather than when data for all trees studied were combined. Cell wall deformations were found to be more abundant in the fibre wall adjacent to the marginal ray cell.
