The detection of paraquat (dichloride) in wood by pyrolysis vapour-phase chromatography

Summary

This paper discusses aspects of the established methods for determination of the herbicide paraquat. Methyl chloride is shown to be a product of the non-oxidative pyrolysis of paraquat (dichloride) and attention is drawn to the possibility of using this observation as the basis of a sensitive vapour-phase chromatographic method for the detection of paraquat in wood.
