Anomalous thermal expansion in spinel MgAl2O4

A possibility for a second order phase transition?

Abstract

The accurate measurement of thermal expansion in spinel MgAl2O4 over a temperature range between 30° C and 900° C has revealed an anomalous behaviour indicating a possible presence of a second order phase transition at 660° C.
