Summary

Failure to visualise the vertebral artery on the side of the introduction of a catheter into the axillary artery is described. This is thought to represent a technical artifact, probably due to trauma during catheterisation.

Résumé

Les auteurs décrivent la non-visualisation de l'artère vertébrale du côté de l'introduction du cathéter dans l'artère axillaire. Ils pensent qui'il s'agit d'un artéfact technique, probablement dû à un traumatisme durant la cathétérisation.

Zusammenfassung

Bei einer Katheter-Kontrastmitteluntersuchung über die rechte A. axillaris wurde festgestellt, daß die rechte A. vertebralis nicht nachweisbar was. Es wurde ein Verschluß angenommen. — Bei einer späteren Untersuchung mit dem Femoralis-Katheter konnte nun jedoch die Kontrastmittelfüllung der rechten A. vertebralis nachgewiesen werden. Die Möglichkeiten dieses artefiziellen, „Verschlusses” werden diskutiert.
