summary
-
1.
In each of several species of fish more than one method of pituitary secretory release has been observed.
-
2.
The present report describes in detail one of these methods as seen in the platyfish, Xiphophorus maculatus, pituitary in which most of the granules are individually released from buds and the remainder from complete cells.
-
3.
The use of secretory extrusion as a cytological criterion of pituitary activity is suggested.
