Summary
Functional tests during angiography, a rise of systemic blood pressure or changes of the apCO2 by hyperventilation or CO2-inhalation, reveal alterations of the circulation in tumours with a visible vascular system. These changes are most impressive in tumours with a.v.-shunts or in a.v.-mulformations. The pathological circulation is increased during hypertension or hyperventialation as a steal phenomenon and decreased during dilatation of the normal cerebral arteries by CO2-inhalation. No pathological vessels or tumour blush appear during functional tests that were not already demonstrated under standard conditions.
